Consistency promotes learning. Children thrive on consistency. When they know what to expect, they feel safe and secure. Consistency helps children learn because it creates a stable environment in which they can explore and grow. When rules and routines are consistent, children are better able to focus on learning new skills and behaviors. Imagine a classroom where rules change constantly. One day, talking out of turn is okay. The next day, it's not. In this chaotic environment, children are unsure of what is expected of them. They are more focused on figuring out the rules than on learning. On the other hand, in a consistent classroom, children know what is expected of them. They can focus on their work and feel confident in their abilities. Consistency also helps children develop self-discipline.
