The Union Executive is a vital part of the Indian political system, responsible for implementing laws and policies formulated by the legislature. At the head of the Union Executive is the President of India, who plays a crucial role in the functioning of the government. The President is the ceremonial head of the state and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. However, the real executive power lies with the Council of Ministers, headed by the Prime Minister. The President's role is largely ceremonial, with limited powers, as most of the executive functions are carried out by the Council of Ministers. One of the important roles of the President is to appoint the Prime Minister, who is usually the leader of the majority party in the Lok Sabha. The President also appoints other Ministers on the advice of the Prime Minister.
