Jordan Banks starts attending Riverdale Academy from "summary" of New Kid by Jerry Craft

Starting at Riverdale Academy was not exactly what I had in mind. I mean, who wants to leave all their friends and everything they know to go to a fancy private school where they stick out like a sore thumb? But my parents were all excited about it, talking about how it would give me a better education and more opportunities. So there I was, Jordan Banks, the new kid at Riverdale Academy. The first day was a total disaster. I walked in and instantly felt like I didn't belong. Everyone was staring at me like I was from another planet. I was the only kid of color in my grade, and it was pretty clear that I was different from everyone else. I tried to make friends, but it seemed like everyone already had their own cliques and didn't want anything to do with the new kid.
