Jordan Banks starts attending Riverdale Academy from "summary" of New Kid by Jerry Craft
Starting at Riverdale Academy was not exactly what I had in mind. I mean, who wants to leave all their friends and everything they know to go to a fancy private school where they stick out like a sore thumb? But my parents were all excited about it, talking about how it would give me a better education and more opportunities. So there I was, Jordan Banks, the new kid at Riverdale Academy. The first day was a total disaster. I walked in and instantly felt like I didn't belong. Everyone was staring at me like I was from another planet. I was the only kid of color in my grade, and it was pretty clear that I was different from everyone else. I tried to make friends, but it seemed like everyone already had their own cliques and didn't want anything to do with the new kid. I tried to fit in by dressing like the other kids, talking like them, even laughing at their jokes. But no matter what I did, I still felt like an outsider. It was like I was constantly walking on eggshells, trying not to say or do anything that would make me stand out even more. And as much as I wanted to be myself, I was starting to feel like maybe that wasn't good enough for Riverdale Academy. Despite all the challenges, I refused to let the school change who I was. I kept drawing in my sketchbook, even though the other kids thought it was weird. I stood up for myself when people made ignorant comments about my race. And slowly but surely, I started to find my place at Riverdale Academy. I made friends who accepted me for who I was, I found teachers who believed in my potential, and I began to see that maybe this fancy school wasn't so bad after all. Starting at Riverdale Academy was a tough journey, but it taught me a lot about who I am and what I stand for. And even though I still have my doubts and insecurities, I know that I am strong enough to face whatever challenges come my way. Riverdale Academy may be a different world from what I'm used to, but I'm determined to make it my own.Similar Posts
