Guilt-tripping involves manipulating the victim's emotions to make them feel guilty for asserting themselves or setting boundaries. Emotional blackmail involves using threats, manipulation, and emotional manipulation to control the victim's behavior. Playing the victim is a tactic in which the manipulator portrays themselves as the victim in order to gain sympathy and manipulate others.- Manipulators use a combination of mind games and psychological tactics to confuse and control their victims. By undermining their victim's sense of reality, shifting blame onto them, and manipulating their emotions, manipulators are able to maintain power and control over those around them. It is important for individuals to be aware of these tactics in order to protect themselves from falling prey to manipulation.
