Treat others with kindness and compassion from "summary" of Marcus Aurelius - Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: The people I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous, and surly. They are like this because they can't tell good from evil. But I have seen the beauty of good and the ugliness of evil, and I have recognized that the wrongdoer has a nature related to my own - not of the same blood or birth, but the same mind, and possessing a share of the divine. And so none of them can hurt me. No one can implicate me in ugliness. Nor can I feel angry at my relative, or hate him. We were born to work together like feet, hands, and eyes, like the two rows of teeth, upper and lower. To obstruct each other is unnatural. To feel anger at someone, to turn your back on him: these are obstructions. Remember: when you do something, you should do it with kindness, compassion, and humility. Treat others with the same respect that you would want for yourself. This is the key to living a virtuous life. By showing kindness and compassion towards others, you are not only benefiting them but also yourself. It is in our nature to work together, to support one another, and to show empathy towards those in need. When faced with difficult situations or challenging individuals, remember to respond with understanding and patience. Everyone is fighting their own battles, dealing with their own struggles. By approaching them with kindness and compassion, you are offering them a sense of comfort and support. This is what it means to be a true friend, a true companion on this journey called life.- We are all interconnected, all part of the same universe. By treating others with kindness and compassion, we are creating a harmonious environment where love and understanding can thrive. This is the essence of humanity, the essence of what it means to be truly alive. So, as you go about your day, remember to show kindness and compassion to all those you encounter. It is in these small acts of love that we can truly make a difference in the world.
