Authentic living brings fulfillment from "summary" of Man's Search for Himself by Rollo May
The concept of authentic living is deeply intertwined with the idea of fulfillment. When we live authentically, we are true to ourselves and our values, not conforming to societal expectations or norms. In doing so, we find a sense of purpose and meaning that brings us fulfillment in our lives. Authentic living requires us to be honest with ourselves and others, to embrace our true selves without fear or shame. When we live authentically, we are able to express our thoughts, feelings, and desires openly and honestly, leading to more genuine and meaningful relationships with others. Living authentically also means taking responsibility for our choices and actions, not blaming others or external circumstances for our shortcomings. By owning our decisions and taking control of our lives, we are able to create a sense of empowerment and agency that can lead to greater fulfillment. In contrast, living inauthentically can lead to feelings of emptiness, dissatisfaction, and a lack of purpose. When we suppress our true selves in order to fit in or please others, we may experience a sense of disconnection from ourselves and others, leading to a sense of alienation and unhappiness.- Living authentically is a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance, a process of uncovering and embracing our true selves in order to live a life that is meaningful and fulfilling. By being true to ourselves and our values, we can find a sense of fulfillment that transcends external circumstances and brings us closer to living a life that is truly our own.
