White lies can lead to bigger deceits. When we engage in small acts of dishonesty, even if they seem harmless at the time, we are setting a precedent for larger lies in the future. This may not be immediately apparent, but over time, the slippery slope of deceit can lead us down a dangerous path. It starts with a seemingly innocuous lie – perhaps telling a friend that you're busy when you really just don't feel like hanging out.
