Death is a natural progression that should be embraced, not feared from "summary" of Life Everlasting by Bernd Heinrich

In the grand scheme of life, death is not an end, but a transition. It is a natural progression that all living beings must face. From the tiniest insect to the mightiest oak tree, death is an inevitable part of the cycle of life. While death may seem like a frightening and unknown journey, it is simply the next step in the natural order of things. In my observations of the natural world, I have seen how death is an essential part of the ecosystem. When an animal dies, its body becomes a source of nutrients for other organisms. Decomposers like bacteria and fungi break down the body, returning essential elements like carbon and nitrogen to the soil. These nutrients are then taken up by plants, which in turn provide food for animals. In this way, death sustains life in a continuous cycle of renewal. Just as death is necessary for the health of an ecosystem, it is also a vital part of individual organisms. When an old or sick animal dies, it makes way for the next generation to thrive.
