Revenge only brings more pain from "summary" of King of Pride by A. Hu

In the heat of anger and hurt, the impulse for revenge may seem like a satisfying remedy. The desire to make someone pay for the pain they have caused us can be overwhelming, clouding our judgment and pushing us towards actions that we may come to regret. However, what we fail to realize in those moments of intense emotion is that seeking revenge only perpetuates a cycle of pain and suffering. When we seek revenge, we are essentially allowing the person who wronged us to continue to have power over our lives. We become consumed by thoughts of retaliation, constantly plotting and planning our next move, all the while neglecting our own well-being and happiness. In our quest for vengeance, we lose sight of what truly matters - our own peace of mind and inner harmony. Moreover, seeking revenge often leads to further conflict and discord. The cycle of retaliation can escalate quickly, resulting in a never-ending cycle of hurt and pain. Each act of revenge only serves to fuel the fire, creating a destructive cycle that is difficult to break free from. In the end, everyone involved is left wounded and scarred, with no resolution or closure in sight. Instead of seeking revenge, we should focus on healing and moving forward. By letting go of the desire for retaliation, we free ourselves from the burden of anger and resentment. We can choose to rise above the situation, to forgive and to let go of the pain that has been inflicted upon us. In doing so, we reclaim our power and take control of our own happiness.
  1. The pursuit of revenge only serves to prolong our suffering and keep us trapped in a cycle of negativity. It is only through forgiveness and letting go that we can truly break free from the chains of pain and move towards a brighter future.
