Fighting against stereotypes and prejudice from "summary" of It's Trevor Noah: Born a Crime by Trevor Noah

Growing up in apartheid South Africa, I was constantly surrounded by stereotypes and prejudice. People had predetermined ideas about who I was based solely on the color of my skin. It was frustrating to be judged before I even had a chance to prove them wrong. One of the most powerful tools I had in the fight against these stereotypes was my sense of humor. I learned early on that by making people laugh, I could break down barriers and show them that I was more than just a stereotype. Humor allowed me to connect with people on a deeper level and challenge their preconceived notions. Another way I fought against stereotypes was by refusing to conform to the expectations placed on me. I refused to be defined by the limitations that society imposed on me.
