The making of the Constitution was a monumental task undertaken by the Constituent Assembly of India. This Assembly was composed of members who were elected by the members of the Provincial Legislative Assemblies. The Assembly was established in November 1946. It took almost three years to draft the Indian Constitution, which was adopted on 26th November 1949. The Constituent Assembly consisted of some of the brightest minds of the country, who came from diverse backgrounds and had varied political ideologies. These members debated and discussed every aspect of the Constitution in great detail. The debates were often intense, with members expressing their opinions passionately.
