Marginalization erodes selfworth from "summary" of In the Margins by Elena Ferrante

The feeling of not belonging, of being pushed to the edges, can have a devastating effect on one's sense of self. It chips away at the foundation of self-worth, leaving behind a hollow shell of inadequacy.
