Neck creams don't work from "summary" of I Feel Bad About My Neck by Nora Ephron

When I think about all the neck creams I've bought over the years, I can't help but feel a little bit foolish. It's not that I believed they would magically turn back the clock and erase all signs of aging - I'm not that gullible. But I did hope that maybe, just maybe, they would make a difference. I fell for all the promises - smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin - and I dutifully applied the creams every night before bed. I massaged them into my skin, hoping that somehow they would work their magic. But the truth is, they never did. No matter how much money I spent on fancy creams or how diligently I applied them, my neck never looked any different. It still sagged, it still had wrinkles, it still showed my age. And that's when it hit me - neck creams don't work. It's a hard truth to swallow, especially when the beauty industry bombards us with messages about the latest miracle products that will transform our skin. But the reality is, no cream can reverse the effects of time. No cream can defy gravity and lift sagging skin. No cream can turn back the clock. So why do we continue to buy into these promises, knowing deep down that they're too good to be true? Perhaps it's because we want to believe that there's a quick fix for our insecurities. We want to believe that we can cheat aging and hold on to our youth a little while longer. But as I've learned the hard way, there are no shortcuts when it comes to aging. No cream, no matter how expensive or luxurious, can do what only time can do. And maybe that's the real lesson here - to embrace our age, wrinkles, and all, and not be fooled by the empty promises of neck creams.
