Not from "summary" of I Am by Matt Fry

The concept of "Not" is a powerful one. It is a negation, a denial of what is. It is the opposite of affirmation, of saying "yes" to something. When we say "not," we are drawing a line in the sand, declaring what is not acceptable, not permissible, not possible. It is a boundary, a limitation. But "not" is not just about what we reject or deny. It is also about what we choose to let go of, to release. It is about surrendering control, releasing our grip on something we are holding onto. It is about letting go of our attachment to outcomes, to expectations, to the way things should be. In this letting go, in this surrender, there is freedom. There is the freedom to be present, to be open, to be fully engaged with what is happening right now. When we release our need to control, when we stop trying to force things to happen a certain way, we create space for something new to emerge. "Not" is about embracing uncertainty, about being willing to step into the unknown. It is about being open to different possibilities, different perspectives, different ways of being. It is about being curious, about being willing to explore, to experiment, to play. When we let go of our fixed ideas, our rigid beliefs, our stubborn resistance, we open ourselves up to new insights, new wisdom, new growth. We become more flexible, more adaptable, more resilient. We become more alive. So, the next time you find yourself clinging to the familiar, to the comfortable, to the safe, remember the power of "not." Remember that by letting go, by surrendering, by releasing, you are inviting in something new, something unexpected, something beautiful. Embrace the power of "not" and see where it takes you.
