These conditions include extreme temperature fluctuations, intense radiation, and powerful dust storms that can last for days. One of the key challenges of building shelters on Mars is the extreme temperature variations. During the day, temperatures on Mars can reach a relatively mild 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
