Relationships take work from "summary" of How to Love by Katie Cotugno
Relationships, real relationships, the kind that last, that weather the storms and the tests of time, they aren't easy. They aren't effortless or simple or perfect. They take work. They take effort. They take compromise and understanding and patience. They require you to be vulnerable, to open yourself up to someone else, to let them in, all the way in, past your walls and your defenses and your carefully constructed facades. It's not always going to be smooth sailing. There will be bumps in the road, obstacles to overcome, disagreements to work through. There will be misunderstandings and miscommunications and hurt feelings. There will be times when you want to throw in the towel, to walk away, to give up. But if you truly care about the other person, if you truly love them, you'll stick it out. You'll fight for the relationship, even when it feels like an uphill battle. You'll learn to communicate openly and honestly, to listen with an open heart and an open mind. You'll learn to compromise, to give a little and take a little, to find common ground and work towards a solution that benefits both of you. You'll learn to be patient, to give each other the time and space you need to grow and change and become better versions of yourselves. You'll learn to forgive, to let go of past hurts and resentments, to move forward with a clean slate. You'll learn to trust, to have faith in each other, in the strength of your bond, in the power of your love. You'll learn to support each other, to lift each other up, to be there for each other through thick and thin. Because at the end of the day, that's what a real relationship is all about. It's about two people who are willing to put in the work, who are committed to each other, who are in it for the long haul. It's about building something together, something strong and lasting and beautiful. It's about choosing each other, every single day, no matter what.Similar Posts
