The Stoics were big on moderation and balance. They believed that excess and extremes were to be avoided at all costs, as they inevitably lead to trouble. This doesn't mean that they advocated for a bland, uneventful existence; rather, they understood that going too far in any direction was likely to bring about negative consequences. Moderation and balance, then, are about finding the sweet spot between extremes. It's about walking the middle path, neither too much nor too little, in all things.
