Challenge societal norms and expectations from "summary" of Hardcore Self Help by Robert Duff

When you think about societal norms and expectations, what comes to mind? For many of us, it's the unwritten rules that govern how we should behave, how we should look, and how we should live our lives. These norms are so ingrained in us that we often don't even realize we're following them. We just do what we're supposed to do because that's what everyone else is doing. But what if I told you that you don't have to follow these norms? What if I told you that you have the power to challenge them and live life on your own terms? It might sound scary at first, but think about it. How many times have you done something just because you felt like you had to, even though it didn't feel right to you? How many times have you held back from pursuing your dreams because you were afraid of what others might think? By challenging societal norms and expectations, you're giving yourself the freedom to be who you truly are. You're saying, "I don't care what society says I should do. I'm going to do what feels right for me." This might mean going against the grain and doing things that others might not understand. It might mean standing out from the crowd and being unapologetically yourself. But here's the thing: when you challenge societal norms and expectations, you're not just doing it for yourself. You're also doing it for others who might be too afraid to do the same. You're showing them that it's okay to be different, to go against the status quo, and to live life on their own terms. So the next time you feel like you have to conform to society's standards, ask yourself why. Is it because it's truly what you want, or is it because you feel like you should? Don't be afraid to challenge those norms and expectations. Embrace who you are and live your life authentically. You might be surprised at how liberating it can be.
