Pip undergoes a transformation in his beliefs and values from "summary" of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens - Delphi Classics (Illustrated) by Charles Dickens

Throughout the novel, the protagonist Pip experiences a significant evolution in his beliefs and values. At the beginning of the story, Pip is a young boy with a deep desire to climb the social ladder and become a gentleman. He is influenced by societal expectations and longs to escape his humble beginnings as a blacksmith's apprentice. Pip's encounter with the convict Magwitch in the graveyard sets off a chain of events that ultimately lead to his transformation. Initially, Pip is terrified of Magwitch and feels repulsed by his rough appearance and criminal background. However, as the story progresses, Pip begins to see Magwitch as a human being deserving of compassion and understanding.
