Surveillance monitors citizens at all times from "summary" of George Orwell 1984 by
The Party's surveillance apparatus is all-encompassing, leaving no corner of Oceania untouched by its watchful eye. From the telescreens that line the streets and homes of its citizens to the Thought Police who lurk in the shadows, every move, every word, every thought is monitored and scrutinized. The citizens of Oceania live in a state of perpetual fear, knowing that they are never truly alone, never truly free. Even in the privacy of their own homes, they are subject to the ever-present gaze of Big Brother, who watches over them with unblinking eyes. There is no escape from the all-seeing eye of the Party, no refuge from its relentless surveillance. This constant surveillance serves a dual purpose for the Party. On the one hand, it is a tool of control, a means of keeping the populace in line through fear and intimidation. By monitoring every aspect of their lives, the Party is able to root out dissent and rebellion before it has a chance to take hold. But the surveillance also serves a more insidious purpose, one that goes beyond mere control. By constantly watching its citizens, the Party is able to shape their thoughts and beliefs, to mold them into obedient subjects who will unquestioningly accept whatever the Party tells them. In this way, the surveillance becomes a form of psychological manipulation, a means of enforcing conformity and loyalty to the Party. In the world of 1984, surveillance is not just a tool of the state, but a way of life. It is a pervasive presence, a constant reminder of the power and authority of the Party. And as long as the citizens of Oceania are kept under its watchful gaze, they will never be truly free.Similar Posts
