Intimacy: building connections with others from "summary" of Gatilhos mentais by Gustavo Ferreira

Intimacy is about more than just physical closeness; it's about building connections with others on a deeper level. It involves sharing our thoughts, feelings, and experiences with someone in a way that creates a sense of closeness and understanding. When we are intimate with someone, we feel seen, heard, and valued for who we truly are. Building intimacy with others requires vulnerability - the willingness to let our guard down and be open and honest with them. It means being willing to share our fears, insecurities, and imperfections, as well as our hopes, dreams, and desires. This vulnerability allows us to create a sense of trust and mutual understanding with the other person. Intimacy also involves active listening and empathy - the ability to truly listen to and understand another person's perspective, and to respond with compassion and kindness. It means being present and engaged in the moment, and making an effort to connect with the other person on an emotional level. Creating intimacy with others takes time and effort. It requires regular communication, both verbal and non-verbal, as well as a willingness to be patient and understanding with one another. It means being willing to work through disagreements and conflicts in a way that strengthens the relationship rather than tearing it apart.
  1. Intimacy is about building a deep and meaningful connection with another person - one that is based on trust, respect, and mutual understanding. It's about being willing to be vulnerable and open with someone, and to allow them to do the same with us. When we cultivate intimacy in our relationships, we create a sense of closeness and connection that can bring us joy, fulfillment, and a sense of belonging.
