Learn to manage your energy levels from "summary" of Free to Focus by Michael Hyatt

One critical lesson successful people have learned is how to manage their energy levels. This concept is about recognizing that our energy is finite and that we must be intentional about how we use it. Just as we budget our money, we must also budget our energy. When we don't manage our energy properly, we risk burnout and decreased productivity. To effectively manage our energy, we need to understand that our energy levels fluctuate throughout the day. We have times when we are at our best, known as peak energy times, and times when our energy is lower. By identifying our peak energy times, we can schedule our most important tasks during those periods and reserve less critical tasks for when our energy is lower. Another key aspect of managing our energy is recognizing the different types of energy we have. Physical energy, emotional energy, mental energy, and spiritual energy all play a role in our overall well-being. By taking care of each of these aspects of our energy, we can ensure that we are operating at our best. In addition to understanding our peak energy times and the different types of energy we have, we must also learn to eliminate energy drainers from our lives. These are activities, people, or situations that drain our energy without providing any benefits. By identifying and addressing these energy drainers, we can free up more energy for the things that truly matter.
  1. Managing our energy requires us to establish boundaries and prioritize self-care. This means setting limits on our time and energy commitments, saying no to things that are not aligned with our goals, and making time for activities that recharge us. By taking care of ourselves and being intentional about how we use our energy, we can increase our productivity and overall well-being.
