Acceptance of what is allows us to find peace and contentment from "summary" of Eckhart Tolle's the Power of Now Summary by Ant Hive Media

When we learn to accept things as they are, without resistance or judgment, we free ourselves from unnecessary suffering. By letting go of our attachment to how we think things should be, we open ourselves up to experiencing peace and contentment in the present moment. This acceptance does not mean that we have to like or condone everything that happens, but rather to acknowledge the reality of the situation without adding unnecessary layers of emotional turmoil. Through acceptance, we are able to see things more clearly and respond to them with a sense of calm and clarity. We are no longer caught up in the endless cycle of craving for what we don't have or clinging to what we want to hold onto. Instead, we are able to simply be with what is, allowing life to unfold in its own time and in its own way. Acceptance also allows us to let go of the past and the future, freeing ourselves from the burden of regret and worry. When we are fully present in the moment, we are able to tap into a deep sense of inner peace and contentment that is not dependent on external circumstances. We are able to find joy and fulfillment in simply being alive, regardless of what is happening around us.
  1. Acceptance is not a passive resignation to the way things are, but an active engagement with reality as it is. It is a recognition that we have the power to choose how we respond to the world, and that our sense of peace and contentment ultimately comes from within. By cultivating an attitude of acceptance, we are able to live more fully and authentically, embracing life in all its beauty and imperfection.
