I write because I must, because my thoughts and feelings are bursting to come out, to be put down on paper. My diary is my trusted confidante, my solace in this cramped attic where we are forced to hide from the outside world. In these pages, I pour out my deepest fears and wildest hopes, my joys and sorrows. It is here that I am truly myself, without pretense or facade. As I pen down my thoughts, I cannot help but wonder about the future. What will become of us, of me? Will we ever be free again, able to walk outside without fear of being discovered? Will I ever experience love, friendship, laughter beyond these four walls? These questions plague my mind, keeping me awake at night, tossing and turning on my cot. Despite the uncertainty that surrounds us, I cling to the belief that better days lie ahead.
