Fear of death stems from ignorance from "summary" of Death; An Inside Story by Sadhguru

The fear of death is not really about the event of death itself but more about the unknown. People fear what they do not know or understand. When it comes to death, most people have no direct experience of it, so it remains a great mystery. This fear is essentially a fear of the unknown, a fear of something that is beyond our comprehension. Ignorance is at the root of this fear. We fear death because we do not know what it entails. We do not understand what happens after we die, so we cling to our limited understanding of life. It is this fear of the unknown that drives us to hold on tightly to our physical existence and resist the idea of death. If we were to truly understand the nature of death and what it signifies, our fear would diminish. Death is simply a transition, a change from one form to another. It is a natural part of the cycle of life, not something to be feared. Once we realize this truth, we can begin to let go of our fear and embrace death as a natural and inevitable part of our existence. By educating ourselves and seeking knowledge about death and the afterlife, we can overcome our ignorance and transcend our fear. When we understand that death is not the end but a new beginning, we can approach it with acceptance and even peace. Instead of fearing death, we can learn to see it as a doorway to a new and unknown adventure. It is only through knowledge and understanding that we can conquer our fear of death and truly live life to the fullest.
