Psychopaths lack empathy and remorse from "summary" of Dark Psychology by Jonathan Mind

Psychopaths are individuals who exhibit a distinct lack of empathy and remorse. This means that they are unable to feel or understand the emotions of others, making it easier for them to manipulate and exploit those around them for their own gain. Without empathy, psychopaths are not able to form meaningful connections with other people. They see others as mere objects to be used and discarded at will, without any consideration for the feelings or well-being of those they harm. This lack of empathy allows them to engage in harmful and destructive behaviors without feeling any guilt or remorse for their actions. Furthermore, the absence of remorse means that psychopaths do not feel bad about the pain and suffering they cause to others. They are able to justify their actions and rationalize their behavior in order to continue exploiting those around them without any sense of guilt. This lack of remorse also enables them to avoid taking responsibility for their actions, shifting the blame onto others or denying any wrongdoing altogether.
  1. The combination of lacking empathy and remorse allows psychopaths to navigate through life without being burdened by the emotions and moral constraints that guide most people's behavior. This gives them a distinct advantage in manipulating and controlling others, as they are able to operate without the hindrance of empathy or guilt.
