Name can be named yet not the eternal Name from "summary" of Dao de Jing by Lao-Tzu,Laozi,Stephen Addiss
The Name that can be named is not the eternal Name. The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth. The named is the mother of ten thousand things. Ever desireless, one can see the mystery. Ever desiring, one can see the manifestations. These two spring from the same source but differ in name; this appears as darkness. Darkness within darkness, the gate to all mystery. The Name is a label we use to identify things in the world. It is a way for us to communicate and understand the objects and concepts around us. However, the Name is not the true essence of the thing it represents. It is merely a symbol, a signifier that points to something beyond itself. The Name is limited by language and human understanding, it is confined to the realm of the known and the tangible. The eternal Name, on the other hand, is beyond language and human comprehension. It is the essence of all things, the source of all creation. It is nameless, formless, and transcendent. It cannot be grasped or defined by words. It is the mysterious force that underlies all existence. To truly understand the eternal Name, one must go beyond words and concepts. One must let go of the attachments to the Name and delve into the nameless realm of pure being. In this state of emptiness and stillness, one can connect with the eternal Name and experience the true nature of reality. The eternal Name is the essence of Dao, the way of nature and the universe. It is the source of all life and the ultimate reality. To know the eternal Name is to attain enlightenment and wisdom. It is to be in harmony with the natural order of things and to live in alignment with the Dao. Thus, the Name can be named, yet not the eternal Name. The Name is a tool for communication and understanding, but it is not the ultimate truth. To know the eternal Name is to go beyond words and concepts, to experience the mystery and beauty of the nameless realm. It is to be in tune with the eternal Dao and to live in harmony with the universe.Similar Posts
