Dao De Jing (also known as the Laozi or Lao Tzu) is a Chinese Taoist book written by the sage Laozi in the 6th century BC. It is composed of 81 short sections and poems and is considered one of the most influential spiritual works in Chinese history. Its main theme is of harmony with the natural world, the cultivation of truth and the attainment of wisdom. It emphasizes the importance of living in balance and taking no action to deliberately disturb the Tao (the โWayโ of life). It describes how all organisms and phenomena exist in a state of harmony, and by cultivating virtue and following the heart, one can achieve a enlightened, more harmonious life. It also warns against the dangers of pride and ambition, and encourages humility and subtlety. Through its philosophical and allegorical text, it aims to impart knowledge and techniques related to personal understanding of the universe and spirituality.
