In every school, all around the world, the curriculum is meant to prepare students for the challenges they will face in the real world. Yet, too often, the curriculum is disconnected from the realities of the world outside the classroom. This is a missed opportunity. Real-world problems should be at the heart of education, driving learning and sparking the kind of deep engagement that leads to real understanding and lasting knowledge. When students are given the chance to grapple with real-world problems, they become active participants in their own education. They are no longer passive recipients of information but rather creators and problem solvers. This kind of active learning not only makes education more engaging for students but also more effective.
