Being true to ourselves builds selfesteem from "summary" of Construcción de la Autoestima by Carlos Casaleiz Linero,Rocio Gómez Carrillo

When we align our actions, thoughts, and values with our true selves, we create a sense of authenticity that resonates deeply within us. This authenticity forms the foundation of our self-esteem, as it allows us to live in harmony with our inner beliefs and convictions. By being true to ourselves, we cultivate a strong sense of self-worth that is not dependent on external validation or approval. When we act in ways that are inauthentic or contrary to our true selves, we create a sense of dissonance that erodes our self-esteem. This dissonance manifests as feelings of guilt, shame, and inadequacy, as we betray our own values and integrity. In order to build and maintain healthy self-esteem, it is essential that we remain true to ourselves and honor our authentic selves in all aspects of our lives. By embracing our true selves and living authentically, we communicate to the world that we value ourselves and our beliefs. This self-respect is reflected back to us through the positive feedback we receive from others, reinforcing our sense of self-worth and confidence. Additionally, when we are true to ourselves, we attract like-minded individuals who support and uplift us, further enhancing our self-esteem.
  1. When we compromise our values and authenticity in order to fit in or gain acceptance, we sacrifice our self-esteem in the process. This conformity may provide temporary validation from others, but it ultimately undermines our sense of self-worth and leads to feelings of emptiness and dissatisfaction. True self-esteem can only be cultivated through a commitment to honoring our true selves and living in alignment with our core values and beliefs.
