Passive communication can make us feel powerless in our interactions with others. When we engage in passive communication, we tend to avoid expressing our needs, thoughts, and feelings. We may hold back from speaking up, asserting ourselves, or setting boundaries. This lack of assertiveness can lead to a sense of powerlessness, as we allow others to dominate the conversation and make decisions for us.
By not asserting ourselves, we give others the upper hand in our interactions. We may feel like we have no control over the situation or that our voice doesn't matter. This can lead to feelings of frustration, resentment, and low self-esteem. We may start to doubt our own abilities and worth, as we constantly put our needs aside in favor of others.
