This allows the flow of electrons from the oxidation half-cell to the reduction half-cell. The movement of electrons generates an electric current, which can be harnessed for various applications. Electrochemistry plays a crucial role in many everyday processes, such as the generation of electricity in batteries and fuel cells. It is also used in industrial processes like electroplating, where a metal coating is applied to a surface using an electric current. By understanding the movement of electrons in electrochemical reactions, scientists and engineers can develop new technologies and improve existing ones.
