Dependent origination explains the interconnected nature of existence from "summary" of Buddhism For Dummies by Jonathan Landaw,Stephan Bodian,Gudrun Bühnemann

Dependent origination is a fundamental Buddhist teaching that elucidates the interconnected nature of existence. This concept asserts that everything in the universe is interrelated and dependent on other phenomena for its existence. According to this teaching, nothing exists in isolation; rather, all things are connected in a complex web of causes and conditions. At the heart of dependent origination is the principle of causality, which posits that every phenomenon arises due to a multitude of causes and conditions. This means that nothing exists independently or autonomously; instead, everything is contingent on a myriad of factors coming together in a specific way. In this way, dependent origination challenges the notion of an independent, self-existing self or entity. Furthermore, dependent origination highlights the impermanent and transient nature of all phenomena. Because everything is interconnected and contingent on causes and conditions, nothing remains static or unchanging. Instead, everything is in a constant state of flux, arising and ceasing in accordance with the complex interplay of causes and conditions.
  1. One gains insight into the true nature of reality and the interconnectedness of all existence. This awareness can lead to a deeper appreciation of the interdependent nature of life and a sense of interconnectedness with all beings. Ultimately, the concept of dependent origination serves as a powerful tool for cultivating compassion, wisdom, and a sense of interconnectedness with the world around us.
