It can reveal a person's true thoughts and feelings from "summary" of Body Language by J. Wolf

The way a person moves, gestures, and holds themselves can often tell us more about what they are truly thinking or feeling than their words ever could. Our bodies have a language all their own, one that is often more honest and revealing than the words we choose to speak. This nonverbal communication, known as body language, can provide important insights into a person's true thoughts and emotions. When we pay attention to a person's body language, we can pick up on subtle cues that offer clues about their state of mind. For example, crossed arms and a furrowed brow may indicate defensiveness or hostility, while relaxed posture and open gestures can signal comfort and openness. These nonverbal signals can help us understand a person's true feelings, even when their words may be saying something different. Body language can also reveal underlying emotions that a person may be trying to conceal. For example, someone who is smiling and nodding during a conversation may appear engaged and interested, but if their feet are pointed towards the exit and their body is turned away, it may indicate that they are actually feeling bored or disinterested. By paying attention to these subtle cues, we can gain a deeper understanding of what someone is truly feeling, even when they are trying to mask their emotions. In addition to revealing a person's true thoughts and feelings, body language can also provide important context for verbal communication. For example, a sarcastic remark accompanied by a playful tone of voice and a smile may be interpreted very differently than the same remark delivered with a serious expression and tense body language. By considering both verbal and nonverbal cues together, we can more accurately decode the intended message and avoid misunderstandings.
  1. Body language is a powerful tool for understanding the thoughts and feelings of others. By paying attention to the subtle cues that our bodies communicate, we can gain valuable insights into the true emotions and intentions of those around us. Whether in personal relationships, professional settings, or everyday interactions, understanding body language can help us navigate social situations with greater clarity and insight.
