Revise and rewrite from "summary" of Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott

You have to be willing to revise and rewrite if you want to be a good writer. This is not an option, it is a necessity. Writing is messy work, and your first draft will almost certainly not be your best work. But that's okay. The key is to keep working at it, to keep revising and rewriting until you get it right. When you revise, you have to be willing to make tough decisions. You may have to cut out entire paragraphs, or even whole chapters. This can be painful, but it is necessary if you want your writing to be the best it can be. You have to be ruthless with your own work, willing to let go of anything that doesn't serve the story. But revising is not just about cutting things out. It's also about adding in new material, strengthening weak sections, and polishing your prose. Sometimes this means rewriting entire sections from scratch. It can be frustrating, but it is all part of the process of writing. One of the most important things to remember when revising is to give yourself enough time. You can't rush the process. You have to be willing to put in the hours, to really dig deep into your writing and make it the best it can be. This takes patience and perseverance, but it is worth it in the end. Another key aspect of revising is getting feedback from others. It can be hard to share your work with others, but it is an essential part of the writing process. Other people can see things in your writing that you can't, and their feedback can be invaluable in helping you improve your work. So don't be afraid to revise and rewrite. Embrace the messiness of the process, and trust that with time and effort, you can turn your rough draft into something truly great. Writing is hard work, but it is also incredibly rewarding. So keep revising, keep rewriting, and never give up on your writing.
