Let go of the past and future from "summary" of Bhagavad Gita According to Gandhi (Gita According to Gandhi) by M. K. Gandhi

The Bhagavad Gita teaches us to focus on the present moment, to be fully present in the here and now. It reminds us that dwelling on the past or worrying about the future only serves to distract us from what is happening in the present. When we hold onto the past, we are unable to move forward, we are stuck in a cycle of regret and resentment. Similarly, when we constantly worry about the future, we are unable to fully experience the present moment. By letting go of the past and future, we free ourselves from the burden of regret and anxiety. We are able to focus on what is truly important – the present moment. This concept may seem simple, but it is incredibly powerful. It requires us to let go of our attachment to outcomes, to surrender our need for control. It calls us to trust in the unfolding of life, to have faith in the journey. When we release our grip on the past and future, we are able to embrace the beauty of the present moment. We can fully engage with our surroundings, we can appreciate the simple joys of life. We are no longer weighed down by the mistakes of the past or the uncertainties of the future. Instead, we are free to live in the present moment, to savor each experience as it comes. This concept of letting go of the past and future is not about denying the significance of our past experiences or ignoring the potential consequences of our future actions. It is about recognizing that we cannot change what has already happened, and we cannot control what is yet to come. All we have is this moment, right here, right now. And it is in this moment that we find peace, joy, and fulfillment.
