When we make a commitment to ourselves, it can be easy to let it slide when no one else is watching. We might set a goal to exercise regularly or eat healthier, but without any external accountability, it can be tempting to skip a workout or indulge in a cheat meal. However, when we involve others in our goals, we introduce a level of external accountability that can help us stay on track.
This external accountability can come in many forms, such as sharing our goals with a friend, joining a group with similar objectives, or even hiring a coach or personal trainer. By making our goals known to others, we create a sense of responsibility and motivation to follow through. We are less likely to give up or make excuses when we know that others are aware of our intentions.
