Be fully present in each experience from "summary" of Being Zen by Ezra Bayda

Being fully present in each experience means bringing our full attention and awareness to whatever we are doing in the present moment. It means letting go of distractions and preoccupations, and immersing ourselves completely in what is happening right now. When we are fully present, we are not thinking about the past or worrying about the future. We are simply being with whatever is unfolding in the here and now. Being fully present requires us to pay attention to the details of our experience – the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and sensations that are happening in this moment. It means noticing the thoughts and feelings that arise within us without getting caught up in them or judging them. It means being open and receptive to whatever is happening, without trying to control or manipulate it. Being fully present is not always easy. Our minds are constantly pulling us away from the present moment, urging us to dwell on the past or fret about the future. We are often lost in thought, caught up in our worries, fears, and regrets. But when we are able to let go of these mental distractions and come back to the present moment, we can experience a sense of peace and clarity that is truly transformative. Being fully present in each experience allows us to connect more deeply with ourselves and with the world around us. It helps us to appreciate the beauty and richness of each moment, and to cultivate a sense of gratitude and wonder for the gift of being alive. It can also help us to develop greater compassion and empathy for others, as we become more attuned to their needs and feelings. Being fully present is a practice that we can cultivate in every aspect of our lives – whether we are washing the dishes, walking in nature, or having a conversation with a friend. It is a way of being that can bring a sense of peace, joy, and fulfillment to our lives, and help us to live with greater authenticity and integrity. By being fully present in each experience, we can learn to embrace life more fully and deeply, and to savor the precious moments that make up our existence.
