Empower employees to take risks from "summary" of Behind the Cloud by Marc Benioff,Carlye Adler
One of the key principles we implemented at our company was the idea of empowering our employees to take risks. This may sound counterintuitive to some, as the traditional approach in many organizations is to minimize risk and play it safe. However, we believe that in order to innovate and stay ahead of the competition, it is essential to encourage our employees to step outside of their comfort zones and try new things. By giving our employees the freedom to take risks, we are allowing them to explore new ideas and approaches that may ultimately lead to breakthrough innovations. We understand that not every risk will pay off, but we also recognize that failure is a natural part of the innovation process. Instead of punishing employees for taking risks that don't pan out, we encourage them to learn from their mistakes and use them as opportunities for growth and development. In order to truly empower our employees to take risks, we had to create a culture that values experimentation and encourages creativity. This meant fostering an environment where employees felt comfortable sharing their ideas, no matter how outlandish they may seem. We also had to provide our employees with the resources and support they needed to pursue their ideas, whether that meant access to funding, mentorship, or simply the freedom to work on passion projects.- But also instills a sense of accountability that drives them to see their projects through to completion. Ultimately, by empowering our employees to take risks, we are not only fostering a culture of innovation and creativity, but also building a team of engaged and motivated individuals who are invested in the success of the company.
