Acceptance of death leads to liberation from "summary" of Be As You Are by Sri Ramana Maharshi
The ultimate goal of spiritual practice is liberation, which is the realization of one's true nature. In order to attain this liberation, one must come to terms with the impermanence of life, including the inevitability of death. The acceptance of death is not meant to be morbid or pessimistic, but rather a recognition of the transient nature of the physical body. By facing the reality of death head-on, one can cultivate a sense of detachment from the material world. This detachment allows one to let go of attachments and desires that bind them to the cycle of birth and death. When one is no longer afraid of death, they are free to live fully in the present moment, without fear or anxiety about the future. This acceptance of death also leads to a deeper understanding of the self. When one realizes that the body is impermanent and will eventually perish, they are forced to confront the question of who they really are beyond the physical form. This inquiry into the nature of the self can ultimately lead to the realization of one's true essence, which is eternal and unchanging. In this way, the acceptance of death becomes a doorway to liberation. When one is no longer identified with the body and the ego, they are free to experience their true nature as pure consciousness. This state of liberation is characterized by a sense of peace, joy, and freedom that transcends the limitations of the physical world.- The acceptance of death is not a morbid or nihilistic endeavor, but rather a profound spiritual practice that can lead to the ultimate liberation of the soul. Through facing the reality of death with courage and equanimity, one can transcend the fear of mortality and discover the eternal essence that lies beyond the physical form.
