Trust is earned from "summary" of Autobiography of Andrew Carnegie by Andrew Carnegie

Trust is the most valuable of all possessions. It is something that cannot be bought. It must be earned through honesty, integrity, and consistency. Trust is not given lightly, nor should it be. It is a fragile thing that can be easily broken if not handled with care. In business, trust is essential. Without it, relationships with customers, partners, and employees will crumble. Trust is the foundation upon which all successful businesses are built. It is what allows people to feel confident in their dealings with you, knowing that you will always act in their best interests. Trust can take years to build, but only seconds to destroy. Once lost, it is incredibly difficult to regain. That is why it is so important to always act with integrity and honesty. People are quick to notice when you deviate from these principles, and their trust in you will waver. I have always believed that trust is the most valuable asset a person can possess. Without it, all other accomplishments are meaningless. That is why I have worked tirelessly throughout my life to earn the trust of those around me. I have always strived to be honest in my dealings, to act with integrity, and to treat others with respect. Trust is not something that can be demanded or taken for granted. It must be earned, day in and day out. It is a never-ending process that requires constant vigilance. But the rewards of having earned the trust of those around you are immeasurable. Trust is the key to success in business and in life. It is the most precious gift you can give to another person. Trust is earned.
