The universe is indifferent to human beliefs from "summary" of Ateist Manifesto by Michel Onfray

The universe does not care about what humans believe. It is not interested in our religious convictions, our political ideologies, or our personal philosophies. The cosmos operates according to its own laws and principles, indifferent to our hopes, fears, and desires. Our beliefs do not shape the universe; they do not influence the stars, the galaxies, or the planets. The laws of physics do not bend to accommodate our faith or superstitions. The universe exists independently of human thought and belief, proceeding along its own course regardless of what we may think or feel. Religions claim to hold the key to understanding the universe and our place within it. They offer comforting explanations for the mysteries of existence, promising salvation, enlightenment, or eternal life. But these beliefs are mere human constructs, born out of ignorance, fear, and a desire for meaning in a chaotic world. Science, on the other hand, seeks to understand the universe through observation, experimentation, and reason. It does not rely on faith or revelation but on empirical evidence and logical deduction. Scientists do not presume to know the mind of God or the purpose of creation; they seek to uncover the natural laws that govern the cosmos. Human beliefs are transient and subjective, shaped by culture, history, and individual experience. They are not universal truths but personal interpretations of reality. The universe, on the other hand, is vast, ancient, and indifferent to our fleeting concerns. It existed long before we appeared on the scene, and it will continue to exist long after we are gone.
