Superstition is the enemy of progress from "summary" of Ateist Manifesto by Michel Onfray

Superstition, with its irrational beliefs and magical thinking, stands in direct opposition to progress. It is a hindrance to the advancement of society, a roadblock on the path to enlightenment and knowledge. When people cling to superstitions, they are holding themselves back from exploring new ideas, questioning old beliefs, and pushing the boundaries of human understanding. Superstition fosters ignorance and fear, stifling curiosity and critical thinking. It encourages conformity and blind obedience to authority, discouraging independent thought and skepticism. In a society dominated by superstition, innovation and creativity are stifled, as people are too afraid to challenge the status quo or think outside the box. Progress requires an open mind, a willingness to embrace change and uncertainty. Superstition, on the other hand, thrives on dogma and tradition, trapping people in outdated modes of thinking and behavior. It is a relic of a bygone era, a remnant of our primitive past that has no place in a modern, rational society. By rejecting superstition and embracing reason and evidence-based thinking, we can move forward as a society. We can break free from the shackles of superstition and superstition and superstition embrace a future where progress and enlightenment are the guiding principles. It is only by casting off the chains of superstition that we can truly unlock our full potential as human beings.
