Religion's hold on society is waning from "summary" of Ateist Manifesto by Michel Onfray

The grip of religion on society is weakening. In the past, the church wielded immense power, dictating moral codes, influencing politics, and controlling the masses through fear and superstition. However, as time progresses, people are beginning to question the authority of religious institutions and challenge their teachings. With the rise of science and the spread of education, more individuals are turning away from traditional beliefs and seeking rational explanations for the world around them. The once unquestioned authority of religious leaders is being called into question, as their claims are scrutinized and their actions are held accountable. Moreover, the atrocities committed in the name of religion have not gone unnoticed. The history of violence, discrimination, and oppression perpetuated by religious institutions has tarnished their reputation and eroded their credibility. People are increasingly wary of organized religion and its potential for harm. Furthermore, the diversification of beliefs and the increase in religious pluralism have made it more difficult for any single religion to maintain its dominance. As different faiths coexist and interact in a globalized world, the exclusive claims of any one religion are being challenged, and people are more open to exploring alternative spiritual paths.
  1. The hold of religion on society is indeed waning. As people become more informed, critical, and open-minded, the authority of religious institutions is being questioned, and their influence is diminishing. While religion may still play a role in many people's lives, its power over society as a whole is on the decline.
