In Animal Farm, the pigs use the animals' ignorance as a powerful tool to manipulate and control them. The pigs, being the most intelligent animals on the farm, take advantage of the others' lack of knowledge to maintain their own power and privileges. By keeping the other animals in the dark about certain events and decisions, the pigs are able to shape their perception of reality and maintain their hold over them. One example of this manipulation through ignorance is when the pigs change the Seven Commandments to suit their own needs. They secretly alter the commandments to benefit themselves, all the while convincing the other animals that nothing has changed.
