Long and arduous journey from "summary" of Anabasis by Xenophon
The journey set before us was one of great length and difficulty, stretching out before our weary eyes like an endless path through the desolate wilderness. Each step we took was a struggle against the unforgiving terrain and the relentless march of time. The road ahead was fraught with danger at every turn, with enemies lying in wait to ambush us and obstacles blocking our way.
As we pressed on through the harsh landscape, our resolve was tested to its limits. We faced hunger and thirst, fatigue and fear, as we pushed ourselves to the brink of exhaustion in our quest to reach our distant goal. Each day brought with it a new trial to overcome, a new challenge to conquer, as we fought our way forward through the unforgiving wilderness.
Despite the hardships we faced, we did not waver in our determination to persevere. Our spirits remained unbroken, our wills unshaken, as we pressed on through the long and arduous journey that lay before us. We drew strength from one another, from the bonds of brotherhood that had formed among us in the crucible of adversity.
And so, with hearts full of courage and minds set on our goal, we continued our march through the wilderness, never looking back, never faltering in our resolve. For we knew that only by facing the trials before us head-on, by meeting each challenge with unwavering determination, could we hope to emerge victorious in the end.
