Aeneas is tested by the gods from "summary" of Aeneid by Virgil,Frederick Ahl

Throughout the epic poem, Aeneas is constantly faced with challenges and obstacles that test his courage, loyalty, and determination. These trials are often orchestrated by the gods themselves, who use Aeneas as a pawn in their own divine schemes. In Book I, Aeneas is tested when Juno, the queen of the gods, unleashes a storm upon his fleet as they attempt to sail to Italy. Aeneas must navigate through treacherous waters and endure the wrath of the goddess in order to fulfill his destiny. In Book II, Aeneas faces another test when he is forced to flee from the burning city of Troy, carrying his father Anchises on his back and leading his son Ascanius by the hand. His loyalty to his family is put to the ultimate test as he must make life-or-death decisions in the midst of chaos and destruction. In Book IV, Aeneas is tested once again when he meets Dido, the queen of Carthage, and falls in love with her. Despite his feelings for Dido, Aeneas knows that he must continue his journey to Italy in order to fulfill his fate as the founder of Rome. His love for Dido conflicts with his sense of duty and honor, forcing him to make a difficult choice. In Book VI, Aeneas descends into the underworld and encounters the shade of his father Anchises, who reveals to him the future glory of Rome. This vision strengthens Aeneas's resolve and reminds him of the importance of his mission, despite the many trials and tribulations he has faced.
  1. Aeneas's journey is a test of his character and his faith in the gods. Through his trials and tribulations, he proves himself to be a worthy hero who is capable of overcoming any obstacle in order to fulfill his divine destiny.
