The government uses technology to monitor and control its citizens from "summary" of 1984, Animal Farm (Set of 2 Books) by Orwell George

In Oceania, the ruling Party maintains a tight grip on its citizens through the constant surveillance and monitoring made possible by advanced technology. Every movement, every action, every word spoken is scrutinized by Big Brother, the all-seeing leader of the Party. Through telescreens installed in every home and public space, the Party is able to watch and listen to its citizens at all times. This constant surveillance instills fear and paranoia among the people, as they never know when they are being watched or who might be reporting their actions to the Thought Police. The Party also utilizes technology to control the flow of information and manipulate the truth. By altering historical records and disseminating propaganda through the Ministry of Truth, the Party is able to shape the beliefs and perceptions of the population. Moreover, technology is used to suppress dissent and rebellion within the society. Thoughtcrime, or even the mere act of thinking rebellious thoughts, is punishable by death. The Party employs advanced methods of surveillance, such as the Thought Police and the use of hidden microphones and cameras, to monitor and eliminate any signs of dissent or resistance. In this dystopian society, technology is not just a tool for convenience or communication, but a weapon used by the government to maintain power and control over its citizens. The constant surveillance and manipulation of information create a climate of fear and oppression, where individual freedom and autonomy are nonexistent.
