The brain is wired to seek out information efficiently from "summary" of 100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People by Susan Weinschenk

Our brains are designed to efficiently search for information. This means that when we encounter new situations or stimuli, our brains automatically start looking for relevant information to help us make sense of what is happening. This process happens quickly and automatically, without us even realizing it. This efficiency in seeking out information is a survival mechanism that has evolved over thousands of years. In order to navigate the world successfully, our ancestors needed to be able to quickly gather information about their environment and make decisions about how to respond. This ability to rapidly process information and make decisions based on that information helped them avoid danger and find food and shelter. Today, this same mechanism is still at work in our brains. When we are presented with new information or experiences, our brains immediately start searching for patterns and connections that can help us understand what is happening. This process is so automatic that we are often not even aware of it happening. Designers can leverage this natural tendency of the brain to seek out information efficiently in order to create more engaging and user-friendly experiences. By presenting information in a clear and organized way, designers can help users quickly find the information they are looking for and make sense of it. This can lead to a more positive user experience and increased engagement with a product or service.
  1. Designers can create more effective and user-friendly designs that cater to the natural tendencies of the human mind. This can ultimately lead to more satisfied users and better overall design outcomes.
